ก่อนหน้านี้ค่าย SEGA ได้ประกาศเปิดตัวเครื่องเกม Mega Drive Mini ที่มาแบบย้อนยุคแบบเดียวกับ Famicom Mini ของนินเทนโด ที่เป็นการนำคอนโซลคลาสสิกมาย่อส่วนแล้วเอามาขายใหม่
แต่ทางค่าย SEGA ยังไม่ประกาศออกมาว่าจะมีเกมอะไรบ้างที่จะถูกบรรจุอยู่ใน Mega Drive Mini ล่าสุดจากนิตยสารแฟมิสึ มีการคำคอลัมน์เกี่ยวกับ Mega Drive และมีการพูดถึงรายชื่อเกม 16Bit ที่อยากให้มาอยู่ใน Mega Drive Mini ที่ส่วนใหญ่จะมีแต่เกมดังๆ และเกมที่ได้รับความนิยมอย่างมากโดยเฉพาะในญี่ปุ่น ก็ต้องไปรอลุ้นกันต่อไปว่าพอออกวางขายจริงๆจะมีเกมอะไรมาให้เล่นกันบ้าง
